The Dinner by Herman Koch.
On a summer’s evening in Amsterdam two couples meet for dinner at a fashionable restaurant. The dinner begins with drinks and dark satire and moves hauntingly from there, finally touching on the elephant in the room: the behaviors of their two teenaged sons. A suspenseful tale of two families struggling to make the hardest decisions of their lives and to keep up appearances—all over the course of a single meal.
