Popular and prolific author, James Patterson compares himself to John Lennon and Paul McCartney, even if he is only trying to justify his prodigious output. Patterson was recently interviewed by Kai Ryssdal on the radio program Marketplace.
Awkward comparisons aside, the thrust of the interview is about the precipitous drop in young adult book sales. It seems with the advent of e-books, e-readers, and tablets parents are forgetting to purchase reading material for their children.
Don't forget to put a copy of Patterson's new John O'Hara novel Second Honeymoon and his new Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, and Snack Hill on hold for yourself AND your kids.
Also as a bonus, listen to James reading a passage from Second Honeymoon.
