World War Z Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Saturday, October 26 at 1:00pm (Film); discussion begins 3:00pm.

Join us for a special screening of the movie World War Z, rated PG-13, 116 minutes, at 1:00pm and stay for a discussion about this fascinating genre. Faculty members from Moraine Valley Community College have generously agreed to bring their insight to our library.

On Wednesday, October 16, Barbara Geiger will discuss the aristocratic way of life and how a few fortunate families came to own so much English property.

Try-It Illinois!

Once again, the Illinois State Library has arranged for you to have free access to more than 400 databases, through November 30. To view the amazing variety of online resources at Try-It Illinois, call the Adult Reference Desk at 708.532.0160, ext. 1 -- or visit us in person -- and we will provide login info. Note that these databases normally require a fee for access, so try 'em out while they're free!

News for Students!

The library has recently purchased nine new study tables for the Main Level. The tables are located between the Adult Reference Desk and the west windows. In addition, three smaller tables have been added north of the Reading Room. Starting Tuesday, October 1, the library will implement a three-hour time limit on Study Room use. Occupants of a room will be asked to leave after three hours if another party is waiting.

We now have a self-serve scan station on the Main Level near the photocopiers. Using a touchscreen monitor, you may scan documents, books, and pictures, directly to a USB drive, email address, and more. There is no charge for scanning. This device can also send outgoing faxes at the library’s current rates. Fax confirmation is available only via email when using the scan station.
