Teen Event Series

Spend time with friends and make new ones while engaging in fun activities for teens. We offer a variety of events throughout the year. Play virtual or tabletop games, join our Youth Advisory Council, create original works of art, and pick up new skills and hobbies. Unless otherwise indicated, all events are open to teens in Grades 6–12. Most of our events require registration, which begins on the 15th of the month prior to the month of the event.

YAC: Youth Advisory Council

Now’s your chance to be a leader in your community by helping plan what teens do at the library! Pizza and pop is served at every meeting. Also, regular members can attend semi-annual overnight lock-ins right here at the library! YAC meetings are held on the second Tuesday every month from 6–7 pm.

Fill out the YAC application form to receive reminders about upcoming YAC meetings.

Cafe Ole

Hang out with your friends, eat cookies, and have something hot or cold to drink (depending on the season!). Also, expect the unexpected with a new game, craft, or activity each time! Cafe Ole is on the second Tuesday each month from 7–8 pm.

Fairy Tale Theatre

Every summer, the library puts on a play for young children and families starring local teens. It is a tradition going back over twenty years with hundreds of teens participating!

Auditions are held at the end of May or the beginning of June, and every teen who auditions gets a role in the play! Rehearsals are four hours long, twice per week for six weeks. The performances take place on a Friday and Saturday in the middle of July.

If acting is not your thing, you can also help out backstage. Our crew helps out with scene changes, props, music, and lights.

Fairy Tale Theatre is open to all teens entering Grade 7 through finishing Grade 12.

Book Discussions and More

Some of our best events are the ones where we can sit and talk about our favorite books, TV shows, movies, and video games. It's the perfect opportunity to meet other teens who share the same tastes and interests.
